30 January 2012
Excellent day today with Mr. Stevenson teaching the class! We went over the Modern Perspectives again and went over Surveys, Populations, and the Research Process.
Items of importance that you should pay attention to:
1. The Modern Perspectives assignment was due today! If you were gone today then turn it in late on Wednesday.
2. Remember to do your reading on pp. 40-44 for Wednesday, as always there will be a quiz :)
3. Be sure to stay on top of your assignments! Look at your Unit plans to see when they are due!
4. If you were gone a day, don't forget to come during lunch or after school to make up quizzes! There have been a lot of people that have not come in to make up quizzes and they are now zeroes!
5. I will be handing out my expectations for the written portion of the Social Norms Assignment on Wednesday that will make it a lot more clear.
6. NAME TEST ON WEDNESDAY AT THE END OF CLASS!
As always, if you have any questions, please contact me!

In class today we discussed the Modern Perspectives of Psychology and how any and every experience can be viewed from any perspective and vice-versa. We briefly discussed the first two steps of conducting a scientific experiment which are: 1) Form a Question and 2) Form a Hypothesis. We handed out 2 assignments today as well which are as follows:
1. Modern Perspectives worksheet- Front side is filling in the perspectives. This can be done from the book if you were absent today. The backside is to look up a crazy action of a celebrity and describe their behavior in each of the 7 perspectives. THIS IS DUE ON MONDAY!
2. Social Norms Assignment- This is now on the blog so print it out if you were gone. Everybody needs to have chosen a norm to break BEFORE they get to class on Monday as well as a question and a hypothesis! There is also a Conducting Scientific Research worksheet that goes along with it, but it is more for reference than anything. It is to help you visualize the research process.
I know this is a lot of info so let me know if you have any questions! Also remember that there is reading as always for Monday, pp. 29-34 in preparation for a quiz.

We had an enlightening day in class today discussing the various types of Psychologists and a sheet was passed out with the various types on it. If you were gone today, make sure you grab a copy from the file cabinet. We also discussed the history of psychology and who the major impact players were such as Wilhelm Wundt, William James, and Sigmund Freud. Announcements for next class:
1. Read pp. 18-21 and be prepared for a quiz. (You can use your notes!)
2. Remember to stay ahead of your assignments, due dates are closer than they appear!
3. I noticed there was a discrepancy on the when the first two assignments were due. Just to clarify: The Modern Perspectives will be due on Jan 30 (in 6 days) and the Why Psych paper is still due on Feb 3!

20 January
Today we handed out the new Unit One plan because the first one was corrupted. There is, however, one minor change on the new one: The due date for the Why Psych paper is Feb 3, NOT Feb 2. We worked for most of the period on our Why Psych papers. If you were not able to finish it during class, then it is homework.
The rest of the homework for Tuesday is as follows:
1. Read pp. 3-11 in the textbook. There will be a quiz on it on Tuesday
2. Look at blog and print off the Ch. 1 Note guide.
3. Fill in the guided notes as you read.
4. Bring your parent permission form if you have not do so already!
IMPORTANT: If you were gone today and did not get a book and so will not be able to take the quiz on Tuesday. You may take the quiz on Tuesday or Wednesday during lunch or after school.
Great job today and have a great weekend!
